On the 20th of Safar al-Ahzan 1447 AH, coinciding with the Arbaeen of Imam Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (peace be upon him), the offices of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi in various cities of Afghanistan organized mourning majalis and service programs to honor this significant Shia occasion.
In Mazar-i-Sharif, the Marja’iyya office held a grand mourning ceremony attended by scholars, students, religious figures, and the general public. During the event, warm meals were distributed to mourners at the Imam Husayn Mosque (peace be upon him) and the Lady Zaynab Mosque (peace be upon her) in deprived areas of the city. This activity was conducted in collaboration with the Al-Mustafa Cultural and Charitable Institute.
Additionally, in the same city, on the 24th of Safar, coinciding with the martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him), several sheep were sacrificed, and the meat was distributed among dozens of needy, orphaned, and impoverished families.
In Herat, the Marja’iyya office organized Arbaeen mourning ceremonies attended by a large gathering of believers and devotees of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), commemorating the memory and trials of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) and his loyal companions.
In Kabul, the Imam Fatimah al-Zahra Complex, another center affiliated with the Marja’iyya, hosted a grand program featuring Qur’anic recitation, Du’a al-Faraj, poetry recitations, elegy recitations by students, and religious speeches.
These activities reflect the prominent role of the Marja’iyya offices in promoting the teachings of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) and serving their followers during religious occasions, particularly the Arbaeen of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him).
