Following the recent tragic events in Sudan, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims), affiliated with the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husseini Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, issued the following statement:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims) strongly and unequivocally condemns the violent acts and horrific crimes currently taking place in the Alfashir region of North Darfur, Sudan.
Reports of attacks targeting civilians, including women and children, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and the displacement of thousands from their homes, represent clear violations of international humanitarian law and fundamental human rights.
These actions are blatant assaults on human dignity and threaten peace and security throughout the region.
Our organization, which embraces the Islamic principles of tolerance, justice, peace, and nonviolence, is deeply pained by the suffering of innocent people in Alfashir. There can be no religious or moral justification for the excessive violence inflicted upon defenseless civilians.
Urgent Humanitarian and Human Rights Appeals
The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims) calls upon the international community, the warring parties, and all influential actors to take immediate and decisive action to halt this catastrophe and fulfills the following demands:
1. Immediate Cessation of Hostilities and Protection of Civilians
Ceasefire: We call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Alfashir and across Sudan, with all parties committing to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and refugee camps.
Safe Corridors: Secure and unobstructed humanitarian corridors must be ensured so that fleeing civilians can reach safe areas, and humanitarian aid can reach those in need without hindrance.
2. Guaranteeing Access to Humanitarian Aid and Basic Necessities
Unrestricted Access: We demand guaranteed and immediate access for international and local humanitarian organizations to all those in need in Alfashir and other affected regions, to deliver food, water, medicine, and shelter materials.
Protection of Aid Workers: All humanitarian personnel must be granted full protection to carry out their duties without fear of being targeted or obstructed.
3. Accountability and International Justice
Independent Investigation: We call for an independent, impartial, and thorough international investigation into all violations committed against civilians in Alfashir, including reports of hospital attacks and sexual assaults.
Prosecution of Perpetrators: All those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity must be held accountable and brought to justice before the International Criminal Court or other legitimate judicial mechanisms. No perpetrator should escape punishment.
4. Support for Peace Efforts and Political Solutions
Return to Negotiations: We urge the international community and regional actors to intensify pressure on the warring parties to immediately return to the negotiating table for serious and meaningful dialogue aimed at ending the conflict and achieving a lasting political solution that fulfills the Sudanese people’s aspirations for freedom, peace, and justice.
The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims) once again reaffirms its commitment to standing by the people of Sudan and calls for global solidarity to end this tragedy and save human lives. The values of peace, nonviolence, and justice must prevail.
