Commemoration of the Passing of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Askar Ali Heidari, Held in Iran and Worldwide

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Askar Ali Heidari, may Allah bless his soul, Imam of the Holy Shrines of Lady Zaynab and Lady Ruqayyah, and representative of the esteemed Religious Authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husseini Shirazi in Syria and Afghanistan, as well as head of his office in Mazar-i-Sharif, passed away after a blessed life dedicated to knowledge, religious struggle, and sincere service to the people and the Ahlul Bayt, (P.B.U.T.).

His honorable body was first mourned in the city of Isfahan and then transferred to the city of Qom. After the funeral prayer led by Sayyid Hussein Shirazi, at the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah Masumeh, he was laid to rest near the shrine of Imamzadeh Jamal Gharib, adjacent to the Bagh-e-Baqi cemetery in Qom.

During his life, Grand Ayatollah Heidari, may Allah bless his soul, established dozens of religious centers and charitable projects, including mosques, Husseiniyahs, orphanages, charitable institutions, and water supply projects in underprivileged areas. For many years, he worked alongside the martyred Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Hassan Shirazi, contributing significantly to the establishment of the Zaynabiyah Seminary in Syria.

In honor of his scholarly status and extensive services, multiple commemoration ceremonies were held in Iran and other countries, including at the Mosque of Baqiyat Allah in Qom, Karbalai Husseiniyah in Isfahan, Ansar Al-Hussein Husseiniyah in Tehran, Bayt Al-Abbas Husseiniyah in Melbourne, Khatam Al-Anbiya Center in Sydney, Oxford Protestant Church in London, Amir Al-Muminin Institute in Holy Najaf, as well as offices of the Religious Authority in Damascus, Mazar-i-Sharif, and other Afghan cities.

These gatherings were attended by scholars, religious figures, representatives of senior Religious Authorities, religious groups, and diverse segments of society, all honoring the memory of this devout scholar.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi, in the presence of the late scholar’s children, friends, and students, praised his ethical and scholarly conduct, highlighting his extraordinary patience in adversity, endurance of hardships, and tireless pursuit of spiritual and religious goals.

Prayers are offered for this revered scholar for elevated ranks and reunion with the pure ancestors.
