On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the World Organization for the Elimination of Violence, Free Muslim—affiliated with the International Foundation of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi, may God grant him long life—issued the following statement:
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The World Organization for the Elimination of Violence (Free Muslim) extends its greetings to all free journalists on World Press Freedom Day and expresses its solidarity and support for their humanitarian efforts and message of justice, aimed at achieving victory for the oppressed around the world.
On this occasion, the organization condemns the targeting of journalists—especially in areas of armed conflict—as well as all efforts to restrict, isolate, or obstruct their just activities.
The organization notes that more than 200 journalists were killed during the recent war against the Gaza Strip, in what was a clear and brutal targeting by Israel, in blatant disregard of international conventions, laws, and norms that prohibit attacks on journalists.
The organization stresses the urgent need for the international community to support journalists, facilitate their work, guarantee their freedom and safety, and protect them from malicious schemes.
And God is the bestower of success.
