The World Nonviolence Organization, Al-Muslim Al-Hurr, affiliated with the Shirazi Foundation in Washington, issued a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Friendship. The organization wrote in its statement:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." (Quran 49:13)
On the occasion of the International Day of Friendship, which falls on the 30th of July, the World Nonviolence Organization (Al-Muslim Al-Hurr) extends its sincerest greetings and highest feelings of brotherhood and affection to all peoples of the Islamic Ummah.
On this blessed occasion, which celebrates the value of friendship as a bridge for communication and understanding among humans, we emphasize the importance of investing in this noble value to build better societies and more stable and prosperous countries.
Islam came to affirm the meaning of human brotherhood and urge people and nations to get to know and come closer to one another. As Allah Almighty says in His Glorious Book: "O mankind, indeed We have created you..." This noble verse is not merely an invitation to get acquainted but forms a strong foundation for establishing relationships based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation that transcend racial and religious differences.
Friendship, in its broadest sense, is one of the strongest means that unite different cultures. When hearts unite and hands come together, barriers disappear, suspicions are lifted, and new horizons open for constructive dialogue and mutual understanding. We believe that dialogue based on friendship and sincere intentions is the most effective way to remove stereotypes, confront tensions, and build bridges of trust among communities.
Therefore, the World Nonviolence Organization (Al-Muslim Al-Hurr) calls on Muslims to:
The world we live in faces serious challenges, and there is no way to confront them except through solidarity, cooperation, and joint work. Friendship is the cornerstone in consolidating these strong relations. Let us make the International Day of Friendship an opportunity to renew our pledge to build a better future for our coming generations—a future marked by peace, love, and harmony.
And Allah is the Grantor of success.
