In the closing days of the month of Safar, 1447 AH, the offices and centers affiliated with the Grand Marja’, Ayatollah al-‘Uzma Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi (may his shadow endure), in the cities of Mazar-i-Sharif and Kabul organized a series of cultural, religious, and social activities to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of the Holy Prophet Muhammad al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his progeny), Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him), and Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him).
In Mazar-i-Sharif, on the 28th of Safar, the Marja’iyya office hosted a mourning gathering to mark the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (PBUH&HP) and Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (AS). The event was attended by a large number of scholars, clerics, and believers, during which preachers devoted to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) delivered speeches and recited elegies. On the 30th of Safar, another mourning assembly was held at the same office to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Ridha (AS), with the participation of religious and cultural figures.
During these days, the Mazar-i-Sharif office, in cooperation with the al-Mustafa Cultural and Charitable Institute (PBUH&HP), sacrificed four sheep and distributed the meat among needy families in the area. In addition, the construction of the 50th and 61st drinking water wells in deprived regions of Balkh province, with the contribution of charitable organizations affiliated with the Marja’iyya, was another significant social initiative carried out during this period.
Among other activities of the Marja’iyya office in Mazar-i-Sharif was a meeting between its representatives and the trustees of the Husayniyya of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (AS) in the Ali-Abad area, where emphasis was placed on expanding cultural and religious services.
In Kabul, the Lady Fatima al-Zahra (SA) Complex, one of the centers affiliated with the Marja’iyya, hosted mourning ceremonies on the 28th and 30th of Safar. These gatherings, attended by seminary students, professors, and believers, included Qur’an recitation, Du‘a al-Faraj, sermons, and elegy recitations. The speakers highlighted the virtues and exemplary conduct of the Holy Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
