The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims), affiliated with the Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi Foundation, may Allah prolong his life, issued the following message addressed to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC):

To the Excellencies, Leaders, and Representatives of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC),
Greetings and respect,

The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims) writes to you in recognition of your vital role in shaping a prosperous economic future for the Asia-Pacific region. We firmly believe that true economic prosperity cannot be achieved without social justice and human dignity, which lie at the heart of our mission for nonviolence, peace, and coexistence.

Your member nations represent a center of global growth, yet this growth faces profound human and social challenges requiring immediate and responsible attention. At this critical juncture, we call upon you to place human and humanitarian dimensions at the forefront of your economic and developmental priorities.

1. Call to Action for Social Betterment:
We urge the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation to take the following actions:

  • Prioritize investment allocation: Direct a greater share of resources toward improving education and primary healthcare in low-income and rural communities to ensure equal opportunities in human development.
  • Create fair employment opportunities: Formulate economic policies that secure job opportunities for youth and women, combating unemployment that fosters social unrest and extremism.
  • Promote transparency and fight corruption: Support efforts to combat institutional corruption, which drains public resources and deepens class inequality.
  • Sustainable development and the environment: Adopt developmental strategies that uphold environmental sustainability and mitigate the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities, especially those dependent on natural resources.

2. Humanitarian Demands alongside Development:
Every developmental effort must be accompanied by a firm commitment to fundamental human rights:

  • Ensure social justice: Establish mechanisms for a fairer distribution of wealth and income to reduce economic inequality among member states.
  • Respect basic freedoms: Emphasize the protection of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, the rights of human rights defenders, and the recognition of civil society as a key partner in the development process.
  • Protect marginalized groups: Give special attention to empowering women, children, and ethnic and religious minorities, ensuring their full access to rights without discrimination and safeguarding them from all forms of violence and abuse.
  • Rights of refugees and migrants: Commit to providing humanitarian and legal support to refugees and migrants, while addressing the root causes of forced migration through political stability and development.

In conclusion, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslims) reaffirms that long-term economic stability in the Asia-Pacific region depends on achieving social peace and human justice. We call upon you to act with responsibility and courage to transform these humanitarian ideals into a tangible reality.
