The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim), affiliated with the Global Foundation of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husseini Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, issued a statement on the occasion of International Migrants Day.

The statement reads as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) joins the international community in commemorating International Migrants Day, an occasion that comes this year amid severe conditions and unprecedented challenges in which millions of people have been forced to leave their homelands in search of safety, escape from war, or pursuit of a dignified life.

Based on its principles of respect for human dignity and the rejection of violence in all its forms, the organization emphasizes that migration is not merely a demographic phenomenon, but rather a true test of the international community’s commitment to the values of justice, equality, and compassion.

The organization expresses deep concern over the growing spread of hate speech and racial discrimination against migrants in many countries around the world, and over the transformation of the migration issue into a bargaining tool for political objectives. This has resulted in serious human rights violations, including arbitrary detention, denial of healthcare, and endangering human lives through irregular migration journeys.

In accordance with its international and ethical commitments, the International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) presents the following demands:

Activation of the Global Compact for Migration: The organization calls on signatory states to effectively adhere to the provisions of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and to halt all practices that contradict the spirit of this agreement.

Guarantee of Fundamental Rights: It is essential to ensure that all migrants, regardless of their legal status, have access to basic services such as education, healthcare, and legal protection, in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Criminalization of Hate Speech: The organization urges governments and international institutions to enact strict laws criminalizing incitement against migrants and to confront extremist currents that seek to stigmatize migrants with negative stereotypes that undermine social cohesion.

Ending Arbitrary Detention: The organization calls for an end to the detention of migrants, especially children and women, and for the adoption of humane alternatives that preserve dignity and respect the rights to assembly and freedom of movement.

Addressing the Root Causes of the Crisis: The international community is urged to seriously work toward ending armed conflicts and supporting sustainable development in migrant sending countries, so that the human right to remain in one’s homeland with dignity is ensured.

The International Nonviolence Organization (Free Muslim) views migrants as a bridge for cultural and economic exchange between nations and calls on the international community to transform migration into an opportunity for shared prosperity rather than treating it as a security burden.

“Human beings are brothers, wherever they may be.”
