During Muharram 1448 A.H., mourning ceremonies commemorating Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, were held at Anwar Aljawadain Institute, one of the centers affiliated with the Religious Authority in Baghdad, Iraq.
The ceremonies began on the first day of Muharram with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Scholar Sheikh Mohammad Alzubaidi then delivered lectures explaining the teachings and objectives of Imam Hussein's movement.
Scholar Sayyid Hashem Mousawi recited devotional poetry in praise of and mourning for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and the Prophet Muhammad's Household, while Hussein Jabouri concluded the gatherings with elegies recalling the sacrifices of Imam Hussein and his loyal companions, peace be upon them.
