The Ahlul Bayt Peace Be Upon Them Cultural and Charitable Foundation, one of the centers affiliated with the Religious Authority in Basra, Iraq, has launched its major Water Distribution Project during this year's Fortieth Day Pilgrimage as part of its humanitarian services for the pilgrims visiting Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
The project began with the distribution of 60,000 bottles of drinking water through Husseini pilgrim service groups across Basra Province to help the pilgrims.
Scholar Sheikh Sadiq Basri, director of the Institute, said that the project is particularly important because of rising temperatures and the increasing need for drinking water among pilgrims.
He added that the initiative is being implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the Supreme Religious Authority Ayatollah Shirazi, may God prolong his life, to provide essential services to the pilgrims of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. The water distribution campaign will continue through three additional phases, expanding its coverage to serve a greater number of pilgrim service groups.
