Coinciding with the arrival of the sacred month of Muharram 1447 AH, the centers affiliated with the religious authority of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi (may his shadow last) in the cities of Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, organized a series of devotional, cultural, and humanitarian programs to honor the mourning days of Imam Aba Abdillah al-Hussein (peace be upon him).
At the office of the Marja'iyya in Mazar-e-Sharif, magnificent mourning ceremonies for Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) were held during the first ten days of Muharram, including Tasua and Ashura. These events were attended by scholars, cultural figures, and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), where Hosseini eulogists recited elegies and narrated the tragedies of Karbala.
Meanwhile, with the cooperation of the Al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his family) Cultural-Charitable Foundation, 17 sheep were slaughtered, and the meat was distributed among Hosseini mourners in Mazar-e-Sharif and the Aqecha Dalan area. This effort, carried out in multiple phases, was part of the social service initiatives of the Marja'iyya to honor the sacred mourning days of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
At the Hazrat Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her) Complex in Kabul, a mourning tent in memory of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) was erected from the first to the thirteenth of Muharram. Each day, the tent hosted a large number of Shia faithful and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). During these gatherings, Hosseini speakers delivered sermons elaborating on the goals of the Ashura uprising and the life and legacy of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), while mourners performed rituals to commemorate the martyrs of Karbala.
These programs were held in line with the guidance of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi (may his shadow last), with the aim of keeping the Ashura movement alive and honoring the Hosseini rituals throughout Afghanistan.
