During the first ten days of the sacred month of Muharram in 1448, the Ahlul Bayt (P.B.U.T.) Islamic Thought Center—an institution linked to the high-ranking religious leadership in Baghdad—is hosting a series of gatherings to mourn Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon them.
These programs, held throughout the first ten days, are designed to explain the lessons of the Karbala uprising, promote the associated values, and reflect on the life of the Prophet’s family, peace be upon them. Believers gathering at these sessions pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala and emphasize the importance of preserving these traditions and passing on the lessons of the uprising for freedom from oppression and injustice to future generations. Each year, the center hosts these cultural and religious programs to deepen knowledge regarding the goals of the movement.
