The office of the Supreme Religious Authority Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husseini Shirazi, may God prolong his life, in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, held a mourning gathering on the fifth day of month of Safar year 1448 A.H. to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Ruqayyah, peace be upon her.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Religious Authority's office, religious and cultural figures, and members of the public.

Scholar Sayyid Saleh Alqazwini addressed the gathering, recounting the heartbreaking martyrdom of Lady Ruqayyah, peace be upon her, and describing the suffering endured by Prophet Muhammad's Household, peace be upon them, during their captivity, including the tragic events in the ruins of Damascus, Syria.
