The Ahlul Bayt Peace Be Upon Them Center for Islamic Thought, one of the centers affiliated with the Religious Authority in Baghdad, Iraq, held a mourning gathering during the second month of mourning for Prophet Muhammad’s Household, attended by believers.

The gathering began with the recitation of the Salutations for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him (in Arabic, Salutations of Ashura), after which participants held the mourning rite of chest-beating to commemorate the suffering of the captive caravan of Prophet Muhammad’s Household and the hardships they endured following the Battle of Karbala, as part of a long and continuous history of oppression faced by Prophet Muhammad’s Household under unjust rulers who claimed authority over them and Muslims after the martyrdom of the Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad, may the blessings of God be upon him.

The gathering also emphasized the importance of preserving the mourning rites of Imam Hussein and renewing commitment to the principles and values of Prophet Muhammad and His Household, may the blessings of God be upon them.
